Thoughts on the State of the Union Address

Earlier this week I watched The President's State of the Union Address. I thought it was interesting and well-presented. I like how President Obama uses language that is familiar to the average person, and not more technical terms that not everyone may understand.

I think, overall, it was pretty good. I think President Obama has the right ideas to improve the country, but he might run into trouble finding support to help him implement them since he only has two years left in office.

One thing I don't really understand is why it's 2015, and we still don't have widespread renewable energy, equal pay for men and women, and higher minimum wages. I would think that people would come to realize that these are all things we need if we want to grow and develop as a nation and succeed in the world.

This was the first year that I watched the State of the Union Address, and I think it helped me see where we are as a nation, which isn't something I think about every day. It sounds like there is great hope for the future, and I look forward to seeing it come.

  1. Why don't we have widespread renewable energy, equal pay for men and women, and higher minimum wages? Because these things cost those in power. If Obama's proposals fail, it may be because Congress won't pass higher (or even equal) taxes or close loopholes for the very wealthy and corporations

  2. I watched the State of the Union Address for the first time this year too but I found that it showed lots of initiative but no actual work that could be done. But, it was good to know what was going to happen in the near future. Glad you watched it.

  4. Hey I've never watched the state of the union address, but I did watch clips and I agree I love Obama as a public speaker. Anything political is always going to piss me off so I can't follow too closely or it's bad for my health. I'm an activist and you are too if you care about things like cheap plentiful clean energy and equality for all people. Obviously, government is kangaroo court that's rigged by big business. Now I don't like to put that thought out there because I want to remain positive for the future. Technology is amazing and it gives me hope. But not as much as when other people can call out BULLSHIT when they see it in our world! All one or none!
